Chandigarh/Sultanpur lodhi (Kapurthala), November 7, 2019: To impart world class health services to the pilgrims visiting the holy city, special medical lounges have been set up by the health department at various locations in Sultanpur Lodhi town.
The medical lounges have proved to be boon for the visitors as a total of 7852 visitors have been provided with the medical help along with the free of cost medicines.
Divulging more details, Civil Surgeon Dr Jasmeet Kaur said that three medical lounges have been set up in the city where a team comprising 1000 paramedical staff and doctors is working round the clock and every day around 700 patients are being attended by these teams. She added that so far the team has provided OPD services to the 7852 patients besides 122 IPD patients out of which 34 have been refereed to the government hospitals for further treatment.
The civil surgeon further added that people are mainly complaining about Blood Pressure, fever, diabetes, Sour throat and Coughing issues, who are getting expert advice from the doctors and medicines are being given to them.
She said that a total of 5293 patients have been attended in the first medical lounge similarly 1559 and 1000 patients have been provided with the medical facilities at all three medical lounges.
The civil surgeon reiterated the the state government is committed to provide top class health services to the pilgrims in the holy city and to achieve this goal a team of more than 1000 paramedic staff is on the job.

SPECIAL EXHIBITION BUS OF TOURISM DEPARTMENT EDUCATING PILGRIMS THROUGH PHOTOS, VIDEOS
Chandigarh/Sultanpur Lodhi: A special exhibition bus of Tourism and Cultural Affairs department of Punjab Government has become centre of attraction among the pilgrims visiting here at Sultanpur Lodhi to pay their homage on the occasion of 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev ji. The devotees, with the help of free literature being distributed, were also being made aware of the history of holy city Sultanpur Lodhi and other religious monuments.
The special bus has been loaded with beautiful pictures of main religious and historical monuments of Punjab which included Darbar Sahib Amritsar, Ram Tirath Temple, Durgiana Temple along with an emotional photograph about Jallianwala Bagh incident. Besides the photographs, the department has also installed two LED screens where the pilgrims were being informed about these monuments with the help of short videos.
Harjinder Kaur, a pilgrim from Chohla Sahib (Tarntaran) said that after getting the information about religious places across the state, they become very curious to visit there and will surely pay our obeisance.
Imran, a tourist who was here along with his collegemates and teachers on a educational visit, said that it was great source of history about Punjab and they have received very valuable information about the historical places in the state.
Meanwhile, Additional Director Tourism department Mr. Lakhmir Singh informed that this special bus would remain stationed near the main pandaal, Guru Nanak Darbar, till November 15. He added that a huge number of pilgrims were visiting this bus. He said that the main motive of the department was to made the people, visiting Sultanpur Lodhi, aware of the rich cultural and religious heritage of Punjab to promote tourism sector in Punjab.

FREE BICYCLES BECOME HIT AMONGST DEVOTEES AT SULTANPUR LODHI
ONE CAN GET FREE BICYCLES BY SHOWING IDENTITY CARDS
Chandigarh/Sultanpur Lodhi: The Punjab government has started a novel innovative for people attending 550th Parkash Purab celebrations at Sultanpur Lodhi wherein free bicycles are being provided to the devotees by showing an identity card. One can get the bicycle for entire day by showing an identity card for visiting several places of religious and historical importance in Sultanpur Lodhi town. Four cycle stands have been specially set up for this purpose.
After using the bicycle for entire day, one has to return it at the same cycle stand in the evening. These cycle stands have been set up outside Nagar Council office, second at Bus Stand, third near Gurudwara Ber Sahib and fourth near Gurudwara Shri Hatt Sahib.
While providing information, Rishabh, supervisor of Hero cycles, stated that 25 bicycles each have been kept at each cycle stand and any person can hire the bicycle for entire day by simply showing his/her identification document. The identification document is kept at the cycle stand as security and is returned when the cycle is handed back.
He further informed that the devotees who want to visit different places of religious and historical importance in Sultanpur Lodhi town can hire these bicycles as they are not able to use their cars due to huge rush of devotees. He stated that these cycle stands were set up on October 31, and till date, more than 1500 devotees have availed this free facility. He informed that more than 200 devotees are availing this facility daily and some of them hire these bicycles for 30 minutes and some for entire day. He stated that this free facility would continue till Gurpurab and if required, it can be extended further. Rishabh informed that a large number of devotees are availing this facility and are ecstatic over it.
Amanpreet Singh, a resident of Avtar Singh Nagar, Jalandhar, informed that he had specially come to attend the 550th Parkash Purab celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Sultanpur Lodhi, but on seeing the cycle stand, he has now decided to use bicycle to commute in this historical town. He said that he got the bicycle by simple submitting his identification document in a hassle free manner.
