Ludhiana, May 30, 2024: Special police observer Deepak Mishra on Thursday took stock of the arrangements made by the district administration for smooth holding of voting on June 1. 

In a meeting with the police observer Satish Kumar, general observer Divya Mittal, DEO Sakshi Sawhney, Commissioner of police Nilabh Kishore, Ludhiana Rural Police SSP Navneet Singh Bains, Mishra emphasized the importance of ensuring peaceful voting and instructed officials to discharge their duties sincerely to maintain law and order.

Mishra stated the need to prevent any gathering, especially by troublemakers, within 100 meters of the polling booth to allow every voter to cast their vote without fear or inducement. He also stressed the use of CCTV cameras and drones to monitor polling stations and the strict enforcement of the no mobile phone policy within polling stations. 

Additionally, Mishra also reviewed the enforcement of the model code of conduct, the functioning of flying, static surveillance, Video surveillance squads and the monitoring of liquor and cash usage during elections. He highlighted the importance of ensuring proper implementation in monitoring liquor vendors, as well as checking vehicles. 

DEO Sakshi Sawhney assured Mishra that the district administration has made adequate arrangements for free and fair polls. She also provided information on the security measures in place at critical polling stations and the facilities provided for voters at all polling stations.

Sawhney informed Mishra that the district administration has made arrangements for ramps, electricity, drinking water, furniture, shaded waiting areas, toilets, and wheelchair facilities at all polling stations. Additionally, due to the heatwave, sweetened water, coolers, and extra fans will be provided at all polling stations.
