SPECIAL RELIEF for setting up industry in borders areas: Joshi

Ferozepur, February 14, 2013: “The new industrial policy would be announced in the coming one or two months and there will be a special relief for setting up the industry in the border area”, said Anil Joshi, Minister of Industries, Punjab while addressing the media persons at the circuit house.

On this occasion, he was accompanied by Manjit Singh Narang, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, Manjit Singh Rai, Punjab BJP general secretary, Dinesh Lakra, chairman, SBS College, Dr. T. S. Sidhu, Director, SBS College and in good number of BJP workers.

Joshi said, “In the new industrial policy, the industrial models of Rajasthan and Gujarat have also been kept in view”. 

He further said, “The Punjab Government has released subsidy of Rs.1,300 crore to activate the sick industrial units so that they could start from zero.  In the new industrial policy, the Punjab Government is desirous to motivate the industrialists to set up the industrial units in Punjab”.

Joshi said, shortly the Multi-skill Development Centers would be opened at Bathinda, Hoshiapur, Ludhiana and Amritsar districts of Punjab and about one lakh skilled workers would be trained in these centers.  He also said, the redevelopment progrmmes with the assistance of famous company Bharti Wallmart, construction skill with the help of L&T and driving and self-development skilled with the association of Tata Motors, would also be started.  The mining policy of the government would also be announced shortly.

Joshi also shared the information of approving of 96 big projects of approximate investment of Rs. 51,905,26 crores and the Punjab Government is committed to extend the Common Infrastructure in Industry Area Act 2012, for better industrial structure.

While talking about the technical education, he said, 7 new Polytechnic colleges have been established by Technical Education and Industrial Training Department and at Kapurthala, Indian Institute of Information Technology with investment of Rs.128 crores would also be set-up besides the same project at Roopnagar in the near future.

He also informed that 7 Hi-tech Government Polytechnic Colleges with investment of Rs.66 crores have also been established in Punjab and 128 Adarsh Schools for giving free model education to intelligent students are being established. A centre in association with the Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar has been opened for preparation of students of rural areas for getting admission in Indian Institute of Technology so that poor and intelligent students could get the standard education.  The Punjab Government has also established Indian School of Business (ISB) at SAS Nagar.

On this occasion, Natinder Mukhija, district president, BJP, Ashwani Grover, Jagraj Singh, Surinder Singh Baggeke Pippal, Kikkar Singh and in good number of BJP workers were present.
