Special training on making paper bags to avoid plastics
Department of family resource management, PAU, Ludhiana conducted the event
Ludhiana: Under the supervision of Dr. Shivani Rana (Scientist, AICRP) Department of Family Resource Management, College of Community Science, PAU, Ludhiana conducted special training on making paper bags to avoid plastics in village Harnampura on 18.03.2021. Around 30 women participated in this event. Dr. Shivani Rana, welcomed all the participants and informed them about the significance of use of paper bags as plastics emits extremely toxic and poisonous gases in the atmosphere during the recycling process. The top reason for using paper bags is that it can be easily reused and generates no pollution. She also encouraged them to be self – dependent by making Self Help Groups. Further the importance and methods of kitchen gardening were discussed. Farmwomen were encouraged to adopt kitchen gardening and value addition for better utilization of resources. Dr. Deepika Bisht (Scientist, FRM) discussed about the importance and organisational structure of College of Community Science. Village girls were guided about the different courses and curriculum of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Dr. Kanchan Shilla (Research Fellow, FRM) gave demonstration on “paper bag making” to farm women. During this programme, Dr. Rana and Dr. Bisht distributed the drudgery reducing tools as well as literature to all the women participants and thanked all for participation. The whole activity was conducted following precautionary instructions regarding COVID-19.
