“Sports Fiesta” held at PU
The Department of Computer Science and Applications, PU organised a sports meet “Sports Fiesta” in collaboration with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 13th and 14th April.
Chandigarh, April 15, 2024: The Department of Computer Science and Applications, PU organised a sports meet “Sports Fiesta” in collaboration with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 13th and 14th April.
Dr. Kavita Taneja, Dr. Anuj Kumar and Mrs. Anjali Jindia coordinated the event. The event commenced with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Dr. Rohini Sharma (Chairperson DCSA, PU) and Prof. Anu Gupta followed by the outdoor games, football, volleyball and cricket. The first day of sports meet was dedicated to the faculty of the department and they played several outdoor games like Net ball, and tug of war. There were many indoor games organised at the gymnasium hall in which the teachers showed full participation while playing chess and carrom and enjoyed to the fullest. The day wrapped up with the award ceremony in which our chairperson gave medals to the winners.
The second day was devoted for the students and their different games. Beginning with cricket football and volleyball finals, relay race and tug of war games were played side by side. All the indoor games like, chess and carrom were organized at the gymnasium hall where all the student batches competed with each other and won many medals. The events proceeded one after the other and till evening. In cricket, the first position was secured by the team of MSC 2nd year and MCA 3rd year, while the second position was claimed by students of MCA 2nd year. In football, the first position was won by MCA 3rd year, with the second position taken by MCA 1st year and MSC 1st year. In volleyball, MCA 2nd year clinched the first position, and MCA 1st year secured the second position. The event wouldn't have been successful without the student coordinators and volunteers, including Rishab Batra, Joginder, Ankit, Sawan, Shubham, Pushpinder, Sakshi, Harsh, Priyanka, Pratiksha, Diya, Shakti, Vinpreet, and Rohan. They worked really hard to make the event a hit.
The sports meet concluded by awarding the students with their medals and certificates by the esteemed faculty members.
