Sports Minister Rana Sodhi disburses training equipments worth Rs.95 lakh to 24 eminent national and international players
First time in history, Sports department initiated disbursement of training apparatus
Chandigarh: To equip the sports persons of the state with the required paraphernalia for giving hard blow to their competitors, Punjab Sports and Youth Services Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, on Tuesday, disbursed technical equipments to eminent national and international players of the state.
During the brief ceremony at his residence here, the Sports Minister said that this is the first time in the history of the department that such a disbursement of training equipments among the players has been initiated. The Sports Minister handed over training equipments worth Rs.95 lakh to 24 marvellous achievers for enabling them to mark their feat in the national and international sports arena. Rana Sodhi exhorted the players to play their game with utmost concentration and discipline.
"Creating an environment for sports in the state, requires state-of-the-art apparatus. Hence, the sports department is providing you with ultra modern equipments and there would be no shortage of much needed gadgetry in future", said Rana Sodhi, adding that Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh led state government is creating a world class sports infrastructure in the state besides providing increased cash incentives for medals, government jobs, Sports studies, technical support and equipments. Notably, Sports Minister Rana Sodhi has recently awarded a bounty of Rs.1.30 crore to 26 Tokyo bound players to procure required logistics besides giving finishing touches to their preparation ahead of these important games.
