Chandigarh, November 11, 2024: The St. John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA) is set to host the much-anticipated SJOBA Cyclothon 2024 on November 17. 

The cyclothon will be flagged off from St. John’s High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh at 6 am and the end point for cyclists will again be St. John's High School. This annual event is a celebration of fitness and community spirit bringing together cycling enthusiasts, families, and environmentally-conscious citizens for a fun and impactful cause. The cyclothon aims to have participants of all ages in a 12.5 km ride around the beautiful city of Chandigarh.

"The event aims to promote cycling as a sustainable, pollution-free mode of transport, while encouraging individuals to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier environment," said Harpal Singh Malvai, President SJOBA.

"The SJOBA Cyclothon aligns with the government’s efforts to promote eco-friendly practices and improve air quality," added Malvai.
"Participants will receive a variety of exciting rewards, including T-shirts, caps, wristbands, a medal for finishers, and e-certificates. Special prizes will be awarded to the youngest and oldest participants, as well as to school groups with the highest level of involvement," added Mangat.

In order to ensure inclusivity, in true SJOBA spirit, the event will feature a category for the specially-abled in addition to the main ride. It is to be noted that as an added incentive is a lucky draw which will give participants the chance to win premium bicycles from Kross Bikes.

The SJOBA Cyclothon 2024 has become a key platform for raising awareness about environmental issues and supporting eco-tourism initiatives within the region. With Chandigarh’s reputation for its green spaces and a growing cycling culture, the city is an ideal backdrop for such an event.
