STAGE SET: For Jullundur Gymkhana Club Elections-2012

Jalandhar, December 1, 2012: The stage is set for the elections of the Jullundur Gymkhana Club, scheduled to be held on December 2.

According to Returning Officer for this election Iqbal Singh Sandhu, PCS, who is also Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jaladhar-1 that all arrangements for elections have been completed. The voting will be held between 9 am to 5 pm tomorrow. The counting of votes would be started soon after closing of voting process. The results would be declared on the same day, by late evening.

As many as 3,235 electors would cast their votes to elect Vice President (1), Hony. Secretary (1), Treasurer (1) alongwith Executive Members (10) from 21 contesting candidates.

The Candidates are Gulshan Kumar Sharma and Tarun Sikka for Joint Secretary, Daljit Singh Chhabra (Advocate) and Satish Thakur Gora for the post of Hony. Secretary and Amrik Singh Ghai and Narinder Singh Shergill for Treasurer while Amit Kukreja, Arvinder Kau, Dheeraj Seth, Gurpeet Singh Kochar (Major), Madhuri (Anu), Pankaj Kapoor, Tajinder Pal Singh (Rahu Sidhu), Raiv Sachdeva (Dimpy) Saurabh Khullar, Shaleen Joshi, Sunita Uppal (Dinky), Survinder Pal Singh Virk, Prof. Vipan Janjhi, Vishal Kakkar and Vivek Gupta. Parminder Singh Panta has already declared un-opposed winner for the post of Junior Vice President.

Sandhu further informed that adequate security arrangements have been made for these elections under supervision of Naresh Dogra, Additional DCP, Jalandhar-1. Two ACPs and 3 SHOs alongwith sufficient police personals have been put on duty by the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar for the free and fair elections. Apart from the police, more than 100 officials have been appointed to conduct the elections from the various government offices. There will be half an hour break for lunch for the officials and electors etc. from 1.30 pm to 2 pm.  

No electors, whose photo is missing on the club directory, shall not be allowed to cast their votes if they do not carry any parallel ID. Other voters have also been advised to carry their parallel ID in case of objection raised by any of the candidate on the identity of any elector. The entire voting process shall be video-graphed to keep eye on the each voters for the free and fair elections, Sandhu added.
