Star College Status granted to KMV

Jalandhar, November 8, 2014: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has been granted ‘Star College Status’ by the Department of Biotechnology of GoI.  Department of Science of KMV is already covered under the grant FIST from DST (Funds for Infrastructural Development) and BSR grants of U.G.C. which are given to colleges with potential for excellence has also been granted star college status by the Govt. of India.  This selection was done under the strengthening component of Star college scheme.  The Department of Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology which are covered under this scheme will get financial aid.  The money will be spent for development of students in academics and research at UG level.  Students of all these Departments will visit institutions of excellent National repute and interact with luminaries in their respective field.  New instruments for fresh experiments can be made available to the students under this scheme who are ready to work on new projects of innovation and on the path to new discoveries.  Principal Prof. Atima Sharma congratulated the faculty of all the department of science and said she was sure this help with finances and intellectual interaction will sustain the students for long on their road to success and also contribute ultimately to general human welfare. Sh. Chander Mohan Ji, President, KMV Managing Committee lauded the college Principal and faculty for this achievement.
