Dr Satish Kumar Thaman- a senior citizen and a resident of Rishi Nagar, Ludhiana writes to Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh
Ludhiana: Dr Satish Kumar Thaman- a senior citizen and a resident of Rishi Nagar, Ludhiana has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh demanding to order for holding of a meeting of sub divisional grievances redressal committee of Ludhiana (West).
In his letter, Dr Thaman, a social activist has stated that there are a total 29 nominated members to the committee. He added that these members are feeling harassed, discouraged and isolated in absence of holding of the meetings over the period. As a result, the public grievances related to civic issues are lying pending unredressed.
He pointed out that the grievances related to the departments of Municipal Corporation, Sewerage Board, Improvement Trust, GLADA and other concerned departments are lying unredressed. He admitted that the pandemic situation is there but he suggested that the meetings can be hold by following all the government guidelines of social distancing etc in view of the larger public interest. He suggested that the meetings can even be held virtually through video conferencing.
Dr Thaman revealed that the sub divisional grievances redressal committee of Ludhiana (West) was formed on August 16, 2017 after which no meeting has been held so far, which is a matter of regret.
He has urged upon the chief minister to look into the matter and issue the necessary directions to the local authorities to hold the meeting as soon as possible so that the general public may get the right forum to redress their grievances.
