Ferozepur, January 24, 2022: The process of filing nominations for the Punjab Assembly elections is all set to start from January 25. All arrangements in this regard have been completed in district Ferozepur. This information was given by District Election Officer- cum- Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan today.

He said that as per new schedule issued by the Election Commission, the notification regarding the filing of nomination will be issued on 25th January and the last date for filing nominations would be Ist February, while scrutiny of nominations would be done on 2nd February. He further said that the date of withdrawal of candidature has been fixed as 4thFebruary.Now the polling date in Punjab has been fixed for 20th February, while counting of votes will be on10th March.

He said that nomination papers for Vidhan Sabha constituency Ferozepur will be submitted at Court, Sub Divisional Magistrate Ferozepur, nomination papers for Vidhan Sabha constituency Ferozepur Rural at Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Ferozepur, Nomination papers for Vidhan Sabha constituency Guruharsahai Court, Sub Divisional Magistrate Guruharsahai. Nomination papers for Vidhan Sabha constituency Zira at the court, Sub Divisional Magistrate Zira.

He said that the time for filing nominations would be from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. He said that at the time of filing nominations, only two persons accompanying the candidate can go inside to the Returning Officer.

Describing the Suwidha Portal as a very suitable platform for political parties / candidates for online nomination and permission etc, he further said that the candidates can create their own account at https://suvidha.eci.gov.in/ and facilitate the nomination process. This portal would be very helpful for candidates.

He said that once the online nomination form is filled, the candidate can take a print of it, get it attested and can attach it with the required documents before the final submission of the form to the to the Returning Officer. He said that apart from online mode, there is also an offline process of nomination.
