Jalandhar, August 11: Expressing dissatisfaction over the way in which the SGPC meetings are held, the Akali Dal 1920 has demanded that the proceedings of SGPC meetings should be video graphed and telecast live for ensuring complete transparency.
Addressing a press conference here today, the party president Ravi Inder Singh said vote of dissidence of two members of its executive committee namely Bhajan Singh Shergil and Mangal Singh had not been recorded in the proceedings of meeting held on August 3.
Further, he told that these two members had expressed their disagreement regarding passing of budget in the 11-member executive meeting. But, the vote of dissidence of these two members was not recorded in the proceedings.
The party president further said that the SGPC budget passed by its executive committee held on August 3 was against the rules. Elaborating he told that according to section 119 (1) and (2) of the Gurdwara Act, the executive committee might present the budget but it should be passed by SGPC general house.
Earlier, in the party’s working committee meeting, the Akali Dal 1920 passed several resolutions including offering its condolences to the aggrieved families of Wisconsin Gurdwara shooting tragedy, alleging the ruling SAD-BJP government for inadequate power supply.
