Startup Punjab holds workshop on women capacity development at CGC Landran
The event was a part of 4 such workshops to be organized across the state of Punjab
Chandigarh: A two-day workshop on ‘Women Capacity Development’ hosted by Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, in association with Startup Punjab (under aegis of Start-up India) and Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi concluded on March 13, 2020. More than 50 aspiring women entrepreneurs from across the region became a part of this workshop where they were given significant insights into initiating a startup, ranging from venture ideation and validation through Management skills required to kick-start entrepreneurial ventures and finally to scale-up the business over time. The event was a part of 4 such workshops to be organized across the state of Punjab over next few months. These workshops were announced by Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, Minister of Finance, Punjab on February 29, 2020 and are being conducted by the technology transfer arm of IIT-Delhi viz. FITT.
Mr. Deepindar Dhillon, Joint Director, Department of Information Technology & Sector Officer IT, Electronics, Invest Punjab, Government of Punjab along with Mr. Sunil Chawla, DGM, Department of Industries and Commerce were the Chief Guests who discussed about the financial support and trainings being provided by the Government that can be utilized by the budding women entrepreneurs to scale-up their start-ups.
Among the other esteemed guests present during the 2-day session were Dr. Sarita Ahlawat, an avid science communicator and entrepreneur, Dr. Sarandeep Singh, Startup consultant, Investment Advisor and Head of the NGO – WEE Foundation, Mr. Ujjwal Chugh, a leading digital visionary, marketer and technologist, Mr. Abhishek Gupta, founder, Starters CFO and Mr. Vikas Gupta, founder of Chartered Eagles. The speakers took session on Venture Ideation, Business Model Validation, Innovative Marketing and Branding Techniques, Financial Insights, Legal & other compliances, and Scaling-up through customer acquisition.
The principal investigator of the workshops, contracted by Start-up India (DPIIT, Ministry of Industries & Commerce, GoI), Dr. Vivek Sharma announced that some of the women entrepreneurs with the best start-up ideas shall be shortlisted for attending a free workshop cum training session to be conducted by FITT at IIT Delhi in the coming days where some of the start-up shall also be offered grants for scaling-up of their ventures.
