State level function of 200th Parkash Utsav of Satguru Ram Singh organised by Punjab Government


Ludhiana, January 24, 2015:   A state-level function of 200th Parkash Utsav of Satguru Ram Singh was organised by the Punjab Government at Bhaini Sahib here today. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Irrigation Minister, Punjab was the chief guest on the occasion.

While speaking on the occasion, Dhillon said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal led state government has always honoured the supreme and unparalleled sacrifices of 66 Kuka martyrs, who were killed by the British, would always remain a source of inspiration to all those who had the courage of conviction.

He said that memorials have been set up in the memory of martyrs from the state, who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country. While paying tribute to Satguru Ram Singh, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that Bhaini Sahib, the birth place of Sat Guru Ram Singh was a sacred and historic place for the whole country, as the effective Kuka Movement for the freedom of the country was launched from here by Satguru Ram Singh.

He further said that the Kukas occupied a prominent place in the history for they were amongst the first to initiate non- cooperation against the British rule. The Irrigation Minister said that the Namdharis under the leadership Satguru Ram Singh made enormous sacrifices to liberate the country and launched an effective drive to eradicate social evils like dowry and female foeticide from the society.

Satguru Uday Singh, the head of Namdhari sect, urged the Namdharis to follow the path shown by Satguru Ram Singh. He said that Satguru Ram Singh as well as all Namdhari Guru's had always stressed upon eradicating social evils from our society.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included MLA Ranjit Singh Dhillon, BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal, Mata Chand Kaur, Bibi Gursharan Kaur, Sant Jagtar Singh, Surinder Singh Namdhari, Gurdev Singh Mapco, Balwinder Singh, Press Secretary Lakhvir Singh Baddowal, Sant Baldev Singh Kaku, besides several others.
