Ludhiana: Department of Music of Arya College organised State level one day seminar on "Contemporary trends in Research in Music". This seminar was inaugurated by Pandit Harvinder Kumar Sharma, the world famous Sitar player and the disciple of Ustad Vilayat Hussain Khan. As many as 25 delegates from different Colleges and Universities presented their research papers.
According a warm welcome to the chief guest and the delegates, College Principal, Dr.Savita Uppal said that Indian music and contemporary genres of music have been struggling with absurdism of the west. In such a situation, it is getting very difficult to preserve the sublimity of Indian Classical Music.
In her address, the Secretary, ACMC, Smt.Satisha Sharma said that it has always been the motive of Arya College to take Indian Literature, Culture and Music to the youngsters.
In his key-note address, the chief guest,Pandit Harvinder Kumar said that the level of research in Music, as in any other field of research,has not been satisfactory. He also added that criticism should not be practise with the motive of finding fault but also to highlight its beauty and ensure its reach amongst the audience.
Presiding the various technical sessions of the seminar, Dr.Pritam Kaur and Dr. Yogesh Sharma shed light on the various trends and challenges of Music.
At the end of the programme Prof.Anuradha Sharma, HOD Music Department,gave vote of thanks to the chief guest and the various research scholars.
On this occasion,Prof.Nimita Sharma, Prof.Sharanjit Kaur, Prof.Ambuj Mala, Prof.Suksham Ahluwalia, Prof. Davinder Joshi, Prof. P.S.Bhogal, Prof. Harpreet Kaur etc. also shared their views.
