`State Open Dance Championship’ at Skating Rink
Chandigarh, December 8, 2019: In an endeavour to promote dance sports in Tricity Chandigarh Dancesport Association in collaboration with All India Dance Federation organized, `State Open Dance Championship’ at Skating Rink, Sector 10 Chandigarh here. More than 60 participants of different categories from 6 years to 55 years of age took part in different dance styles with the full enthusiasm. In salsa male category, Nischay won a gold medal, while Deepak bagged silver medal and Kailash settled for a bronze medal. While participating in the Salsa couple dance, Nischay and Rohini clinched a gold medal, while Kailash & Bhumika won silver and Prateek & Shivangi bagged bronze medal. In Solo-Freestyle from 18 to 35 years age group, Abhishek clinched gold medal, while Prince won silver and Agam settled with Bronze medal. Speaking on the occasion, Varun DS Rana, General Secretary of the Chandigarh Dancesport Association, “We have organized the event to provide a platform to all dance enthusiasts and to make people more aware about Dancesport. The event will boost the morale of the students, which will motivate them to do better in their dance career.” Akanksha Mamgain, Vice president of Chandigarh Dancesport Association added, "The winners here have qualified for the upcoming 11th National Dance Sport Championship, which is going to be held in Punjab in the end of December 2019. All the winners will also undergo a training camp for the same and will be introduced to the recognized dance style." Chief Guest, Manmord Sidhu (White Hill Studios) graced the occasion with his presence and encouraged the participants with his inspiring speech. The competition was judged by Irine Likokeli, a professional Latin American & Ballroom Dancer from Georgia, MTV Fame Artist, Tara Prasad & the winner of a dance reality show "Dance Fever' and Arshdeep Singh, a renowned choreographer & dancer in Salsa Dance Community.
