Stop power cuts within 3 days or face gherao of residences of Cong MPs and MLAs: PPBM
Ludhiana, October 11, 2021: Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) under the leadership of state general secretary Sunil Mehra, district president Arwinder Singh Makkar and Rajesh Gupta president Baghwali Gali unit president held a demonstration in the Baghwali Gali here, against the increased power cuts, and burnt an effigy of PSPCL.
Addressing the gathering, the leaders said that unscheduled power cuts are being imposed in the state by Punjab government, resulting to which industries of Ludhiana and other parts of the state are suffering huge financial losses. The power cuts are also affecting adversely the industrial production.
They said the trade and industry had already suffered heavily due to the pandemic and now sever power cuts are being imposed. They claimed that the Punjab industry is suffering a daily loss of about Rs.50,000 crore due to these power cuts but the state government seems to be in no worry.
They apprehended that the small industries units have to shut down if these power cuts remain continued for sometimes, resulting to which there will prevail unemployment and poverty. They said all the industries are not in a position to run their units by using costly diesel as a fuel.
They pointed out that on one hand the state government is paying electricity bills of 53 lakh people from its own pocket and on the other hand the trade and industry is being harassed by imposing unscheduled power cuts. They said it is a question to think over as to why the state government is giving step motherly treatment to trades. They warned that they would be constrained to gherao the residences of MPs and MLAs, if power cuts are not stopped within next three days – the entire responsibility of which shall lie on the state government itself.
