Over 750 students from the city gather together for two day Architectural fest

Chennai, February 15, 2019: In an effort to educate city’s architecture students about the evolving facets of Smart Cities project and its impact on urbanization, Marg Institute of Design and Architecture, Swarnabhoomi (MIDAS) organized a student conference today in its campus. Planned as part of its biennale student architecture fest, Trikona 2019, the conference opened gateways of discussion on innovation and technological revolution in the field of architecture with the advent of Smart City projects.

Scheduled to take place over two days, 15th and 16th February 2019, the event was kick-started with a student led conference with eminent architects from across the country like Padma Bhushan Ar. Hafeez Contractor, Speaker and chief guest of the event, Cities very own Ar. Kavitha Selvaraj, Director of CRN Associates and Ar. Raj Cherubal, CEO of Chennai Smart city Ltd and renowned Author/speaker Mr. Srijan Pal Singh, CEO and co-founder of Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam Centre sharing insights about Changing trends in the field.

Commenting on the occasion, Ms. Rajini Reddy VP, Director – SAI, said “Trikona 2019 is an event that is close to our hearts as it helps bring the student community together on one platform to interact and learn from experts in the industry. With the industry preparing itself for technological revolution and working towards creating smart cities, it is pivotal to equip students with the right skill set for the future. Trikona 2019 aims to do that through a series of lectures and conferences. We are confident that the architecture students in the city will be enlightened and equipped through this conference.”

India’s celebrated architect, Padma Bhushan Ar. Hafeez Contractor, said “I am delighted to be here amongst future minds set to build our nation. Through this conference I hope to leave an impression on the students and inspired them to become responsible architects in the future.” He further added “Smart cities are the most hyped but most appropriate subject in today's world of architecture. Building complexes are no longer important; future is all about how we are planning the cities. We have to equip the future architects to smartly design and build cities to increase its livability.”
