Chandigarh, August 22, 2024: The opening ceremony of three day orientation program to sensitize the newly admitted students of University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh was organized in the law auditorium of the university.
The event, spanning from 21st to 23rd August, aims to warmly welcome and orient the new students. Mr. Sunny Guglani, Head of Airbus Helicopters, India and South Asia region who is also an alumnus of UIET, was the chief guest of the program and Prof. Y P Verma, Registrar, Panjab University, attended the program as the guest of honour.
Guglani, in his speech talked about his journey as a student at UIET and as a professional in the corporate world. He gave five mantras of success to the students that would help them prepare themselves for their academic and professional journey. He also emphasized on the small things that make a person, a better citizen of the country. An interaction session with a successful alumnus of the institute, was a learning and the guiding light for the students.
The guest of honour Prof YP Verma, also encouraged and motivated the students with his enriching words. Prof Verma is also a faculty at UIET and understands the learning paths that an engineering student needs to walk upon, to attain a successful career in engineering.
The director of the institute Prof. Sanjeev Puri welcomed the students and assured the parents that their wards are at a safe and secure place and Panjab University would prove to be another home for them. Prof. Shuchi Gupta, coordinator of the organizing department made the students aware of the rules and regulations of the Institute and about how the institute is there to support them in every possible way.
The branch coordinators of all the engineering streams also interacted with the students. Besides such interactions the students will also be made aware of different facilities available and varied activities which they can participate for their holistic development.
