Chandigarh: Gauging the stupendous accomplishment of the Hockey India team, especially Punjabi players, participating in Tokyo 2020 Olympics, I am very much sure that we are going to secure a medal in Hockey after Moscow Olympics 1980, asserted Punjab Sports and Youth Services Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, on Wednesday, after inaugurating Selfie points across the state besides launching LED Screen for live streaming of the Olympics till the event underway at Sports Stadium Mohali.

Asserting that our preparation for Tokyo Olympics was at par with global standards, Rana Sodhi expressed confidence that the state's players of all sports events will win at least three to four medals as Punjab has sent the second largest contingent in the country. "We Know that our players have had sleepless nights and practiced tremendously hard and will be doing their level best at the Olympics", said the minister, adding that being responsible citizens we should try to repay our Olympic players by cheering them up. Therefore, the sports department is serving the same by constructing a Selfie point at Sector 78, Sports Complex", he added.

The Cabinet Minister said that this is a great opportunity for the fans of all the Olympic players to express their love and gratitude towards them. This Selfie point has an LED Screen on which various live events of the Olympics 2020 will be casted. He urged the people of Mohali to visit this selfie point and encourage our Olympic players.

Rana Sodhi reiterated that gold winners at the Olympics would get Rs.2.25 crore as prize money, Silver winners Rs.1.5 crore, while those bagging Bronze would be richer by Rs.1 crore along with decorated government jobs.

He informed that with the launch of Mobile Application called "Khedo Punjab", designed under the guidance of Principal Secretary Sports Mr. Raj Kamal Choudhary and Director Sports Mr. D.P.S. Kharbanda, the sports persons and the budding players of the state will be in a position to register online and can choose any game of their interest besides identifying their International/National/State goals, which will finally help in building competitive enthusiasm.
