Successful Conclusion of Institution’s Innovation Councils’ Technology Transfer Brainstorming Session at CIL, Panjab University by AICTE
MIC - AICTE Indovation Centre Chandigarh, in collaboration with DST-Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) of Panjab University, successfully conducted a Tech-Transfer Round Table at the Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility (SAIF), Panjab University.
Chandigarh, June 28, 2024: MIC - AICTE Indovation Centre Chandigarh, in collaboration with DST-Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) of Panjab University, successfully conducted a Tech-Transfer Round Table at the Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility (SAIF), Panjab University.
The event, themed around "Enhancing Technology Transfer from Higher Education Institutions through Indovation Centre," brought together key stakeholders including representatives from Institution’s Innovation Councils (IICs) across Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. Officials from MIC/AICTE, DST-TEC, and Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) also participated, emphasizing the significance of IP and Technology Transfer in academic institutions and approaches of Tech-Transfer.
The round table began with insightful sessions led by Ankush Gawri (Manager Indovation Centre Chandigarh) highlighting Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell’s initiatives and the objectives of the Indovation Centres nationwide.
TEC provided an overview of its role in facilitating technology transfer within the region, underscoring its strong industry ties and commitment to addressing technological challenges through academic collaboration. During the session, Professor Manu Sharma highlighted the upcoming Transfer of Technology (ToT) Conference scheduled for 22nd and 23rd November 2024 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. This conference aims to provide scientists with an 8-minute stage time, either offline or online, to present their technologies to industry professionals and students. The presentations will focus on facilitating the transfer of technology from academia to industry.
Organized by DST-TEC@PU, the conference will not only support academicians in technology transfer but also guide academia and industries in seeking financial support from industry, investors, and funding agencies as required. It will address critical industrial challenges that require innovative technological solutions from academia.
During the open discussion session, each participating institute showcased their current practices in filing IPs, and facilitating technology transfer. They also discussed capabilities in supporting innovation.
Key outcomes included a deeper understanding of Indovation Centre’s pivotal role, identification of promising technologies from HEIs, and actionable strategies to bolster technology transfer mechanisms. The event concluded with an overview on the Invention Disclosure Form, aimed at streamlining the process of innovations and facilitating further collaboration.
The Tech-Transfer Round Table served as a catalyst for transformative dialogue among HEIs, aiming to strengthen the ecosystem for innovation and technology transfer. By leveraging resources and expertise available through Indovation Centres, participants expressed optimism towards driving economic growth, advancing technology, and fostering societal development.
