Sunit Mukherjee inspires the younger generation to contribute meaningfully to the cause of society and the nation

Rohtak, December 26, 2024: Glowing tributes were paid to Veer Baal Shahids- Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas in MDU, Rohtak today. Tributes were also paid to Shahid Udham Singh on his Jayanti today. Floral offerings were made on the portrait of Shahid Zorawar Singh and Shahid Fateh Singh as well as Shahid Udham Singh.
As Chief Guest, MDU Registrar Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja said that Veer Bal Diwas is a day to pledge to protect the concept of Bhartiyata. He eulogized the indomitable courage of Baal Shahid Zorawar Singh and Baal Shahid Fateh Singh who stood steadfast in their faith despite torture by the then Mughal Governor of Sirhind. He described the sacrifice of the young martyrs in detail.
Sunit Mukherjee, Director, Public Relations (MDU) in his keynote address said that the supreme sacrifice by Shahid Zorawar Singh and Shahid Fateh Singh is inspirational. The younger generation must take inspiration from these two young martyrs and Shahid Udham Singh, and contribute meaningfully to the cause of society and the nation, he added. “Nation must come first” must be the credo, he exhorted the students. He threw light on the rich legacy of Sikh history in his inspiring address.
Guest of Honour, Prof. Jitender Singh Sikka said that the heroic deed of the young martyrs is historic and awe-inspiring. Dean (R&D) Prof. Arun Nanda also spoke on the occasion, and explained the inclusivity elements of Guru Granth Sahib and Sikhism. Dean, Students’ Welfare Prof. Randeep Rana delivered the welcome address and paid tribute to the Veer Baal Shahids. Director, Youth Welfare Dr. Partap Singh Rathee expressed the Vote of Thanks . YRC Programme Co-ordinator, Prof. Anju Dhiman conducted the stage. Senior University Functionaries, HODs, Faculty Members, YRC Volunteers and Students attended the Veer Bal Diwas Seminar.
