Superobese patient from US gets operated in DMC Hospital
A Superobese lady who came from America with initial weight of 170kgs suffering from obstructive sleep apnoea, diabetesmellitus, blood pressure & difficulty in walking was successfully operated at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital by Bariatric surgery .
Ludhiana, February 20, 2023: A Superobese lady who came from America with initial weight of 170kgs suffering from obstructive sleep apnoea, diabetesmellitus, blood pressure & difficulty in walking was successfully operated at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital by Bariatric surgery. The Chief surgeons for the operation were Dr.Ashish Ahuja, Professor Department of Surgery & Dr.P.S. Nain Professor Department of Surgery.
Dr Ahuja said the female patient was a very high risk patient & surgery was refused by many private centers due to the high risk as per anaesthesia & surgery were concerned, but due to multi disciplinary team approach at DMC we could manage the surgery well & Laparoscopic Mini Gastric Bypass was performed on the patient.
During her discharge the female patient met the Secretary DMCH Managing Society Prem Gupta and told him that she came from U.S.A to specially get the surgery here as one of her relatives was operated here few years back & was doing absolutely well.
Doctors at DMCH said in a few months patients will lose more than 50% of excess weight with cure of diabetes, breathlessness & knee pains.
Prem Gupta congratulated the entire team involved in this high risk patient for a successful outcome. Dr Neeru Luthra Professor of Anaesthesia & Dr Richa Jain Associate professor of Anaesthesia were the Chief Anaesthetist for the female patient.
