Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik emerge overall winners in 4 WD and Arun T in 2WD at 38th edition of the SJOBA Rally 2025
Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik emerged as the overall winners in the 4WD category, and Arun T clinched top position in the 2WD category of the 38th edition of the SJOBA Rally 2025, organized by the St. John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA) – the alumni network of St. John’s High School, Chandigarh.It is worth mentioning here that this marks Suresh and Ashwin's 8th title in the history of the SJOBA rally.

Chandigarh, March 3, 2025: Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik emerged as the overall winners in the 4WD category, and Arun T clinched top position in the 2WD category of the 38th edition of the SJOBA Rally 2025, organized by the St. John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA) – the alumni network of St. John’s High School, Chandigarh.It is worth mentioning here that this marks Suresh and Ashwin's 8th title in the history of the SJOBA rally.
A total of 30 four-wheelers and 60 two-wheelers, along with their drivers and riders, participated in the thrilling 3-day motorsports event, which took place from February 27 to March 2.
Jai Krishan Singh Rouri (Deputy Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha) flagged off the final day of the SJOBA Extreme Car Rally from the Gaj Retreat, Garhshankar, Punjab.
In the adrenaline-fueled 4WD four-wheel drive vehicle category, Harpreet Singh Bawa and Vikram Thakur secured second place, while Khushwant Randhawa and V Sekar finished in third.
In the 2WD Extreme category, Prathish showcased exceptional speed and skill to secure the first runner-up position, while Karan Kumar M clinched second runner-up.
To celebrate the outstanding performances, SJOBA hosted a prize distribution ceremony at the prestigious CGA Golf Range, where participants were honored for their achievements. The total prize pool amounted to approximately Rs. 6 lakhs, along with trophies and additional awards.
Harpal S. Malvai, President of SJOBA, expressed his excitement, saying, "We are delighted to witness the overwhelming participation from rally enthusiasts this year, as the competitors came from all parts of India . Our efforts to promote motorsports are gaining momentum, and we want to make Chandigarh & Punjab a motorsports hub."
Malvai added, "To make the rally even more thrilling, we held a Super Special Stage at the flag-off point this year. This included specially designed short tracks that allowed the public to experience the powerful machines, participating in the rally, in full action, up close and personal."
The SJOBA President, the Clerk of the Course, SPS Ghai along with Danish Singh Mangat, Secretary SJOBA & Competitor Relationship Officer of the SJOBA Rally and Dr Anubhav Naresh, Vice President ,SJOBA, actively conducted the prize distribution ceremony with active support of other SJOBA members.
It is worth noting that the participants passed through Punjab's Ropar, Garhshankar, Mansowal, and Hoshiarpur districts, as well as Himachal Pradesh. The route featured unmetalled surfaces, axle-breaking riverbeds, both dry and wet fast tarmacs with winding hairpins, and an exhilarating hilly terrain in both Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
The SJOBA Rally 2025 was supported by Hero MotoCorp, Servo Indian Oil, Punjab Tourism, Vamcy Merla, Fortis, Coca Cola, Kandhari Beverages, Surbhi Packers, Isuzu, Paul Merchants, and the Doaba Group of Colleges.
