Swachh Survekshan 2021: MC launches Clean Ludhiana, Green Ludhiana campaign

Ludhiana: With an aim to improve ranking in Swachh Survekshan 2021 and beautify the city, the Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana, kicked off a “Clean Ludhiana, Green Ludhiana” campaign. The campaign was started from Bus Stand by Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and MC Commissioner Pardeep Sabharwal on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Mayor Balkar Singh, who was accompanied by Councillor Mamta Ashu said that it is the duty of the Municipal Corporation to clean and beautify the city but it could not happen without the cooperation of the public. “The entire MC team from MC Commissioner to every single employee has been doing all the efforts to beautify the city. I also solicit cooperation from Ludhiana residents to support this campaign,” he said.

He said that if Indore can secure India’s cleanest city tag the why can’t Ludhiana. “We will send a team of councillor’s to Indore for comparison and to ascertain that where we are lacking,” he said.

Mayor said that the MC will also organise competitions for councillors and residents to motivate them to keep their surroundings clean. 

During the media briefing, the Mayor also announced to throw open the Jagraon Bridge for the public. “The construction of much-awaited Jagraon bridge has been completed and we have decided to throw open the bridge for public sans any inauguration,” he said.

Councillor Mamta Ashu also sought support from the public to make the “Clean Ludhiana, Green Ludhiana” campaign a huge success and bring Ludhiana on top rank in Swachh Survekshan 2021.

Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner Kulpreet Singh was also present during the press conference.
