A panel discussion on “Women in Cinema”
Symbiosis Law School Pune, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is celebrating Women’s Day on 8th March, 2021 by screening the movie “Nil Battey Sannata” at 10:00 AM which will be followed by a panel discussion on “Women in Cinema” from 12:30 PM.
Cinema of today is undergoing a silent revolution with women characters finding space and traction as leading characters and movies being made exclusively on women issues. The topic “Women in Cinema” will encompass this dialogue regarding the empowering development of women in the field of cinema. The event is being hosted by the Gender Champions Cell in collaboration with Film Club, Law Hawks Cell and the Human Rights Cell of SLS-P.
The panel discussion will see the participation of eminent luminaries who will be speaking on a wide range of topics focusing on female representation and authentic portrayal of women characters and issues. Panellists include Ms. Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Director, Nil Battey Sanatta who will be discussing “Women Directors in Bollywood”, Ms. Amrita Goswami, Ph.D., Cinema Studies & OTT Content Curator who will shed light upon “Commercial success and Independent Cinema” and Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, Fulbright Scholar, Director, Symbiosis Law School, Pune. The session will be moderated by Prof. Anupam Siddhartha, Director, English Language Teaching Institute of Symbiosis (ELTIS).
