Symposium titled ‘Relevance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Ideology in Contemporary Times’
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre and SC/ST Cell along with other Departments of the University, organized a symposium titled ‘Relevance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Ideology in Contemporary Times’.
Chandigarh, April 14, 2022: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre and SC/ST Cell along with other Departments of the University, organized a symposium titled ‘Relevance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Ideology in Contemporary Times’ today to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The Chief Guest, Professor Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Padam Shri, Chancellor of H.P. University, highlighted the significance of Dr Ambedkar’s writings and philosophy. According to him Ambedkar’s ideas are now being adopted by most of South East Asian Countries. The Chief Patron of Panjab University Professor Raj Kumar pointed out that Dr. Ambedkar was way ahead of his times in terms of his ideas with regard to globalization, liberalization and democracy. The Vice-Chancellor asserted that Ambedkar should not be restricted to being only a leader of a marginalized group. He also deliberated on Ambedkar’s ideas covering population control, industrialization and education.
The one day symposium had two sessions that included five lectures by eminent scholars on various ideas of Ambedkar and their contemporary relevance from the North Eastern region. These scholars were Professor Rattan Singh, Dr. Ajeet Chahal, Professor Promod Mehra, Dr. Anu Mehra and Dr. Nehmat Bajwa.
