The Women and Child Care Welfare Foundation (WCCWF), a leading Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) is all set to host the landmark – T 10 Interstate Wheelchair Cricket Tournament - in collaboration with Institute of Development & Communication (IDC) Chandigarh and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Mohali.  Chandigarh Administration, UT Sports Department and Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab too are associated with the tournament.

Chandigarh, January 30, 2025: The Women and Child Care Welfare Foundation (WCCWF), a leading Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) is all set to host the landmark – T 10 Interstate Wheelchair Cricket Tournament - in collaboration with Institute of Development & Communication (IDC) Chandigarh and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Mohali.  Chandigarh Administration, UT Sports Department and Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab too are associated with the tournament.

The T 10 Interstate Wheelchair Cricket Tournament will take place at the Cricket Ground of Government Senior Secondary School(G.S.S.S) , Sec 26 from Feb 1-2.

Talking about the event, Kamaljeet Singh, General Secretary, WCCWF said: “The wheelchair cricket tournament will feature teams from Punjab, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Delhi. The tournament’s matches shall start at 9 am on both days. The final will be played on Feb 2 at 1 pm followed by the prize distribution ceremony."

Jasbeer Kaur, President, WCCWF said, "We are committed to empowering underprivileged communities and we seek to break barriers and empower differently-abled cricketers through this tournament."

Dr Chandan Awasthi, Deputy Director IDC Chandigarh and Vice-Chairperson JSS Mohali, said , "People’s participation and encouragement in such events will help redefine possibilities for many who face physical and societal challenges.

Sanjeev Kumar, Finance Cum Administration Officer, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Mohali said, "This initiative promises to shine a spotlight on inclusivity, determination, and the spirit of sportsmanship."

The tournament is also being supported by Wheelchair Cricket India and  is recognised by the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI).    

Jasbeer Kaur further said, “We make a fervent appeal to people, organizations, and sports enthusiasts to join hands in supporting this noble cause. We also request members of the public to come in large numbers to watch the talented differently abled cricketers in action, so that they feel motivated.”

It is noteworthy that WCCWF’s Mini Guleria and Rajvir Singh too are playing a pivotal role in the successful conduct of the tourney.

The organisations supporting the tournament include Intersoft, Shrishti Technologies & Coca Cola. Fortis Hospital Mohali is the healthcare partner and Capital 90.8 FM the radio partner.
