Talent of home scientists galore in sky

Chandigarh: A number of students of Government Home Science College showcased their talents at various events and competitions and brought laurels to college. 
 
Students bagged a number of prizes during the Science Fest-2020 held at MCM DAV College for Women on the theme ‘Emerging Trends in science and Technology’. Khushi from from B.Sc. (Fashion Designing) - 3rd Year bagged 1st prize in Green fashion Show showcasing sustainable lifestyle clothing. She designed a dress whose upper top resembled a solar panel and bottom skirt resembling solar energy highlighting the process of utilizing solar energy for production of electricity. She won the title of ‘Eco-Friendly Queen’. Rashmita Subba from B.Sc. (Dietetics) - 3rd Year bagged first prize in Poster making Competition. She depicted sustainable features as well as eco-friendly raw sources for sustainable development in her poster. Akanksha Rakheja and Chetna Vats from B.Sc. (Home Science) – 2nd Year won first prize in Scientific Rangoli. With this, the college bagged the Overall Trophy during the Science Fest-2020.
 
Home science girls also participated in the 8-day extravaganza ‘Chandigarh Urban Festival’ held from February 09 to February 16, 2020. The Bhangra team of the college bagged 2nd prize while the aerobics team won the consolation prize. The performances were highly appreciated by the spectators.
 
In addition to this, Rashmita Subba, a student of B.Sc. (Dietetics)- 3rd Year bagged third prize in Poster making Competition on the theme ‘Digital India’ after competing with a number of other students from various colleges and universities of tricity during an intercollege Economics Fest ‘Econoverse’ was held at MCM DAV College for Women on February 12, 2020. Other participating students were felicitated with participation certificate.
 
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the students on their brilliant performances as they brought laurels to the institution. She also congratulated the prize winners for keeping alive the inimitable tradition of excellence of Government Home Science College and further advised the students to never rest on their laurels and exhorted them to work with more dedication towards their goals.
