Chandigarh, March 19, 2015: Expert talks on Biopharmaceuticals & Herbals marked the fourth day of the ongoing week-long faculty training school on the theme “From Drug Discovery to Drug Delivery:Contemporary Trends” at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh today. The week-long faculty training school is being organised under UGC Networking Resource Centre Programme.

A series of lectures on herbals by Professor Karan Vasisht, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS); Cancer Nanobiomedicine by Dr Sanyog Jain, NIPER; Drug Regulatory Affairs by Dr Kanchan Kohli, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi and Bio-pharmaceuticals by Dr Pawan Tiwary, Prescient Life Sciences, Gurgaon, followed by a demonstration on Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy.

A lecture on “Drug Discovery from Natural Products” by UIPS, Prof Karan Vasisht marked the start to the day, where he enlightened the audience on the use of drugs derived from natural products.

Assistant Professor, NIPER, Mohali, Dr Sanyog Jain spoke on "Cancer Nanomedicine” where he briefed the Pharma faculty participants regarding the various nanostructured drug delivery approaches adopted for cancer treatment and diagnosis.

Dr Pawan Tiwary  from Prescient Life Sciences, Gurgaon gave an insight of the “Positive and Flip-Side of Biopharmaceuticals,” an emerging paradigm in pharmaceutical industry.

In the afternoon session, Associate Professor, Hamdard University, New Delhi, Dr Kanchan Kohli presented the entire panorama of “Drug Discovery to Drug Discovery, and Regulatory Affairs.” / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)

A demonstration workshop on Confocal Microscopy was conducted at the UGC Centre for Nano Applications, PU.
