1. What is your take on modern-day love and relationships? And how do you think this is different from the kind of love that was there in the 17th century?
It is true that we have come a long way in terms of technology and modernization, and this has had an impact on our relationships and the way we communicate as well. Love was simpler in the past although communication options were limited. In the past, couples accepted each other despite their differences. However, the modern era allows individuals to choose their partner and allows them to get to know the person before committing. I feel it's a matter of personal preference and it's tough to say love in which era was better, but what’s interesting is that how two people with very diverse lives come together in this beautiful journey and our show Dhruv Tara will also showcase one such intense love story between people two divergent worlds.
2. What kind of preparation has gone into making this character come to life on the screen?
Tara is a smart girl who is surprised by things happening around her in the 21st century. Honestly, I haven’t undergone a specific kind of training for bringing this character to life. I am going with the flow and improvising as the scene demands. This approach can be effective in creating a believable and authentic character, and you can always adjust your performance based on the feedback you receive from the director and other members of the team. Blending my own characteristics with those of Tara creates a believable and relatable performance. And while continuing to work on the role, I did discover new aspects of the character that that I have brought to life on screen.
3. How has been the experience of donning the character of a princess on-screen?
Well, it has been surreal feeling to get into the shoes of a princess and it did take a few workshops for me to get it right. It's very unlikely in our normal lives, but yes, I got an open canvas to experiment with character. The challenging part of the character is the heavy costumes, as the look is filled with layering’s and ornaments. Though costumes play a significant role in helping you to bring the character to life on screen, shooting an action sequence can be challenging. The costumes on you look beautiful and they enhance your performance. Costumes can be an important tool for actors in immersing themselves in their roles and can add an extra layer of realism.
4. How do you think Tara is going to react to things in 2023?
As Tara, the character is experiencing an instant change as she travels from her own time to the modern era. Everything is new to her, from the technology to the clothes and it's all beyond her imagination. The gradual change in her environment and the new experiences she encounters will shape her reactions and behaviour. The audience will be able to see the transformation as she adapts to the new world, and it will be interesting to see how Tara's experiences in the present day will shape her future decisions.
5. So this is the kind of love story that is not seen on television much. So how do you think the viewers are going to react to this? Will it be like a breath of fresh air or what will it be?
It’s a unique concept where there is a time portal and a girl from the past travels to the present and falls in love with a person from the present. This show has a different charm and is very distinguished from other shows on-air currently. This show targets a wide audience and reinforces the channel's aim of producing content for the entire family. With this exciting new offering, Sony SAB aims to break through the clutter with one-of-its-kind concept. We are putting our best foot forward as a team and I can assure you that the viewers will enjoy the show as much as we did while shooting. We are sure the audience will stay hooked to it and will want to know what happens next.
6. So how was the experience of shooting with Yash, Narayani, Krishna, and Dhruv?
I am having a great time shooting for Dhruv Tara, and I think building a good rapport with co-actors is important for a positive and productive filming experience and better performances. There is also a comfortable environment on set, which allows us to take risks and explore different aspects of their characters. Overall, having this great relationship with my co-actors is helping make the filming process more enjoyable. It is also good to say that I am having a good time and enjoying the all the sequences on the show.
