Chandigarh/ Amritsar, March 11, 2013: The Punjab Police today arrested HC Devinder Kumar and Constable Saraj Singh, who were charged of assaulting a lady in Tarn Taran on March 3 this year.
The arrest has been ordered after receipt of enquiry report that was submitted by SP Ranbir Singh.
According to an official spokesman, both policemen have been charged u/s 354, 323, 506, 148, 149 IPC and u/s 3, 4 of SC/ST Act through FIR (No. 69) dated March 4.
The spokesman reiterated the commitment of the state government to protect the dignity of women and take strict action against the guilty, whosoever, he may be.
