Tata Technologies collaborates with Bihar Government to transform 149 state ITIs as CoEs

Tata Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Bihar for 10 years to transform 149 Government-owned Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) with the latest infrastructure, industry-oriented courseware, and training.

Chandigarh, January 31, 2022: Tata Technologies, a global engineering, and product development digital services company, today announced that it has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Bihar to transform 149 Government-owned Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Centers of Excellence (CoEs) as part of the initiative to implement projects of high social impact and complement the nation-building efforts of the Government. Post upgradation, these Centres of Excellence will not only cater to advanced skill requirements of students as well as prospective employers but also act as technology & industrial hubs for the MSMEs. The total investment under this project would be about Rs. 4,606.97 crores.
 
Tata Technologies is collaborating with 20 global industry partners to implement this project by upgrading the overall facilities of these 149 COEs, develop an ITI course curriculum leveraging its manufacturing domain knowledge around advanced areas of technology, conduct training programs, and provide equipment and software support at the COEs. In the first phase, 60 centres will be upgraded to COEs by September’22. The remaining 89 centres would be transformed into COEs by June’23. The company will also deploy 298 training personnel along with industry partners and will facilitate the deployment of advanced tools and equipment. Tata Technologies aims to upgrade the skills of the basic workforce as per future industry requirements and offer a platform to participants to help them get preference for placements in the industries. This will also improve the availability of advanced skills required for smart manufacturing across the state and provide the impetus for skill-led manufacturing thereby attracting investments in Industry 4.0 technologies.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Labor Resources Minister Bihar, Shri Jibesh Kumar said “The transformation of ITIs into Centres of Excellence will transform the technology landscape of the state and lead to better upskilling and employment opportunities for the youth of the State. As we train our talent and provide an industrial platform through these COEs, this will also position the state of Bihar as a potential investment destination for those industry players who are keen on embracing Industry 4.0 and smart technologies for manufacturing. These COEs will facilitate 23 new technologically advanced trade courses covering some in-demand latest technologies like Electric Vehicles, Robotics, Digital Manufacturing, IoT, Automation, and Artisanship. Post upgrade, the students can expect multiple certifications from technology/OEM providers in addition to the certification provided by the COEs across all trades leading to better employment opportunities for them.”

Vandana Kini, said “This collaboration with Tata Technologies will help us provide the best possible technology training ecosystem. As part of the ‘7 Nischay part-2’ plan, we aim to train and empower the youth of Bihar in Bihar so that they can innovate new technology solutions in Bihar as well as attract investments from companies and create jobs.”
 
The upgraded centers will facilitate upskilling in sectors related to Industry 4.0, Product Design & Development, Product Verification and Virtual analysis, Design for Artisans and Handicrafts, Additive manufacturing (3D printing), Modern Automotive Maintenance Repair and Overhaul, Battery Electric Vehicle Training, IoT and Digital Instrumentation,  Process Control and Automation with HMI, PLC SCADA, Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping, Industrial Robotics with arc welding, AI-based Virtual Welding & Painting, Advanced Plumbing, Digital Meters, Agriculture and Horticulture, all centers are linked with Satellite for communication, e-learning platform, etc.
