Teacher  Empowerment programme concluded at GNDU

Amritsar, January 1, 2015: One week ‘Teacher Empowerment’ programme for the teachers of the university  concluded at the ASC of the University on Wednesday. This programme was conducted by the Microsoft in collaboration with the ASC under the aegis of the NMIECT, a project of the MHRD.

The main aim of the program-me was to strengthen the use of ICT in classroom by the teachers of the Higher Education. As many as 24 teachers & research scholars got their expertise & skills enhanced during the workshop.  Sanedep Tomar, a representative of the Microsoft along with the able support of   Coordinator Prof. Hardeep Singh conducted this workshop.

Prof. Paramjit Singh Judge, Dean, Academic Affairs, GNDU presided over the valedictory session. Prof. Paramjit Singh Judge in his valedictory address highly eulogized the initiative of the Microsoft, which was meant to enhance the expertise & skills of the teachers in this domain of utmost importance. Emphasizing the significance of the latest software technology for the teachers of all the disciplines, he remarked that one could remain aloof from it at one’s own peril in the present era. Recalling the olden days, when the advent of computer was resisted by the so-called traditionalists, he said that the adaptability was one of the main keys to excellence in any sphere. Quoting extensively from the history of human civilization, he opined that every revolutionary change was accepted by the society with hesitation. He concluded his address by seeking more such endeavors from the Microsoft for the teachers.

Sandeep Tomar, trainer as well as representative of the Microsoft, exhorted the participants not to confine the skills gained during the workshop to them, but to disseminate them further. Only that way the purpose of such workshops could be realised, he further said. Prof. Hardeep Singh, Department of Computer Sciences & Engineering briefly summarised the contents of the workshop. Prof Avinash Kaur Nagpal, Director, Academic Staff College in her welcome address felicitated the participants over the successful completion of the workshop.
