Team IIALC and IIAPC celebrate World Environment Day
Endorsed the message of IIA National President - Ar C R Raju that we all jointly must work for betterment of Environment on all fronts.
Ludhiana, June 5, 2022: Architect members of Indian Institute of Architects Ludhiana Centre (IIALC) and Punjab Chapter (IIAPC) have endorsed the message of IIA National President - Ar C R Raju that we all jointly must work for betterment of Environment on all fronts.
Duty of architects is most important to convince the client to construct the building from best possible environmental points of view. Buildings must be more green- sustainable and should not damage environment at all during construction or even during later years of usage.
Giving this information here today, Ar. Sanjay Goel, Chairman of IIA Punjab Chapter said declaration made by IIA National President - Ar C R Raju is as under:
“Recognizing the challenges and threat posed by climate change, increasing carbon footprints and global warming to the sustainability of the planet earth and
Valuing and accepting the mandate given by the United Nations in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals defined for promoting the global sustainability and
Recognizing, understanding and appreciating the critical and valuable role played by the Architects in promoting sustainability,
We the members of The Indian Institute of Architects on this World Environment Day, being celebrated globally on 5th June with the theme, ‘One Planet Earth’, with focus on, ‘Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature’, do herby solemnly declare, commit and resolve as under;
• That we shall always remain committed to promote sustainability of this planet earth
• That we will always use our professional skill, expertise, knowledge and understanding to promote sustainability of all communities, society and the human settlements, both urban and rural.
• That we will always use our professional skill, expertise, knowledge and understanding to plan and design all buildings, for which we are engaged, to be green buildings , for promoting energy efficiency, resource efficiency and minimizing generation of waste.
• That we commit ourselves to make sustainability as integral part of teaching
-learning of architecture and architectural practice.
• That we commit ourselves to promote adoption of passive approach for planning and designing of buildings by using the renewable sources of Sun, space and greenery, provided with nature.
• That we commit ourselves not to damage and destroy any flora and fauna, and would take all possible steps to preserve , promote and make value addition to nature and natural elements by retaining/valuing all trees which form part of our project site.
• That we undertake to spread the message of sustainability among the communities and masses.
• That we will aid, advise and assist the construction industry to be more resource efficient and sustainable.
• That we commit ourselves to make aware our clients, promoters and developers to create built environment which will be sustainable and energy efficient.
• That as an Institute commit ourselves to always co-operate and collaborate with all sister Architect’s organizations of different countries, Acrasia, UIA and other professional organizations, , engaged in promoting sustainability and achieving the agenda defined for global sustainability, operating both locally and internationally.
• That we commit ourselves to aid, advise and assist the corporate sector to leverage their resources available under Corporate Social Responsibility for achieving the target of making buildings net zero- water/energy.
• That we commit ourselves to co-operate, collaborate and work with various levels of governments, operating at local , state and national levels, to evolve policies and implement all programmes focusing of promoting sustainability, bio-diversity and decarbonizing cities and built environment.”
