Team of 10 students from Panjab University participate in “Education and Digital Transformation- Education for Life, Global Citizenship - Youth Parliament (India)”
A team of 10 students from Panjab University’s M.A Semester II of Centre for Human Rights and Duties participated in “Education and Digital Transformation- Education for Life, Global Citizenship - Youth Parliament (India)” organised in online mode by Amrita University (Kerala) under Civil 20 India 2023 a working group of G20.
Chandigarh, April 3, 2023: A team of 10 students from Panjab University’s M.A Semester II of Centre for Human Rights and Duties participated in “Education and Digital Transformation- Education for Life, Global Citizenship - Youth Parliament (India)” organised in online mode by Amrita University (Kerala) under Civil 20 India 2023 a working group of G20. The event was conducted in online mode on April 1. 2023. The event was inaugurated by the expert facilitators Ritesh Kumar Singh Principal Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy . Karnataka ; D. Ramakrishna Rao , National President Vidya Bharti.
A total of 22 participants from States and Union territories of India took part in the event. Among the major themes discussed were mental health, substance and drug abuse, migration, protection of culture, women safety, cyber addiction and the like.
The Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University, Chandigarh was represented by Riya Swamy and members of the team comprised - Amanpreet Brar, Tejinder Singh Bhangu, Dhrishti Sachdeva, Amita Bhatti, Jashanpreet Kaur, Yashpreet Singh, and Shubneen Gill. The topics presented by the Panjab University led team were: Mental Health : Prevalences in Higher Educational Institutions; and Drugs and Youth Working Methodology For Mental Health.
The team worked on these themes by conducting an empirical study across higher educational institutions in Chandigarh as well as seeking expert opinion from civil society experts including NGO professionals. They also gave workable recommendations for addressing these issues which were highly appreciated by the expert facilitators at the Youth Parliament.
It is a laudable achievement as Dr. Upneet Kaur Mangat, Chairperson of the Centre for Human Rights and Duties informed that the work of the teams representing at the Youth Parliament will be highlighted in the policy presented at G20.
