Speaking on the occasion Dr. Evita Fernandez said moms to have the right to have a companion in the delivery room. She should not be left alone the delivery room in the company of strangers. Birth Companions give her psychological support which she needed in the labor room. Women trust her companion.

Birth is a significant moment in everyone’s life. Women should know her rights. We must teach her human rights in childbirth, Dr. Evita told.

Doctors are turning natural childbirths into a medical emergencies. C-Sections are rising. We need radical changes in our childbirth practices. Knowingly or unknowingly, willingly or unwillingly, Doctors are leaving a lifetime scar on the body of moms for the rest of their life. Because of these reasons women are afraid of conceiving. A woman doesn’t mind giving birth to a child unassisted at home and take a risk rather than going to hospitals, she said. Our women are stripped and made to lie on the bed, sometimes in the presence of men. Our women need the dignity of childbirth. Dignity and respect during pregnancy and childbirth are very important. We can't compromise on her dignity. She showed an image of elephants how they surrounded an elephant giving birth and gave it space and privacy. Why we don’t do it for our women she asked.

Nearly 60 million births take place every year. Our government is encouraging hospital births. The country must invest in professional Midwifery Services. They must be trained to professionally assist natural childbirths. Professional Midwifery service is the backbone for birth delivery service. Moms to be will be safer in the hands of professional midwives. Fernandez helped deliver 9000 women naturally with the help of Professional Midwifery Service during August 2011 to October 2018, she shared.

She told Obstetricians must shed all their archaic practices. They must open their hearts and minds. They must do a lot of unlearning. They must embrace professional midwifery service, she said and concluded her address.

It is generally perceived that women shy away from Learning and Applying Financial tools and skills in their life. Women think that managing finance in the family is not their job. And they think that is the job of their spouse or male head of their family. But, in reality, women are much better in managing money at every level. says Angel Investor, Sanjay Jesrani, Founder & CEO of Go North Ventures while addressing 200 plus Women at TEDx Hyderabad Women here in Hyderabad today at Wells Fargo Office in Rayadurgam.

He was one of the three speakers at the TEDx annual women event who spoke on “Finance Leadership in Women”. We need more women in Finance to check frauds he said. Women and Finance go well. Finance is not a rocket science, which can be picked up with a little bit of effort.

Women have the finance management skill in them. They proved it during Demonetization period. Many men reached out to their moms, spouses, sisters and their piggy banks for small change. Women of the house are lost resort for money when all the sources are drained out, Sanjay said.

Sanjay gave two examples to prove his argument that women are better in managing finances than men. He cited an example of Anu Agha of Thermax Group who after going through repeated family tragedies took up the mantle of Thermax as its Chairman and went on to become a billionaire. He also gave another example of an ordinary woman servant Lakshmi Amma, who had six children and managed finances as a single mother after the demise of her husband and made them so successful in life. He also gave examples of Kudumbashree, the women empowerment and poverty eradication program of the State Poverty Eradication Mission of the Government of Kerala; Amul and Lizzat Papad.

The Common sense, good analytical skills, inquiry minded, patience, risk-taking ability are some of the traits women posses. If women can management finance well, it empowers them, liberates them, gives them freedom. They can manage bad marriages. They can become self-reliance and reduce dependence on parents, spouse, and children. It gives them the thrill of control of their own destiny. Go out and pick up the knowledge. We need more women in Finance, Sanjay stated. That is because it helps prevent fraud if more women get into Finance, he told his gathering.

Giving more examples, Sanjay said instead of buying a Bullet Vehicle in the year 2001 by investing Rs 50,000/-, if you had invested in the scripts for the same amount in the Eicher, the company that manufactures the bullet vehicle, stock would have been worth rupees three crore now, he told.

Financial literacy is “A combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude, and behavior necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual well-being,” Sanjay told by citing definition of OECD of Financial Literacy. He suggested four steps. Asked them to come out of comfort zone, get over the fear of finance management, learn and grow..

Addressing the gathering, Social Entrepreneur and Gender Advocate Anusha Bharadwaj, Executive Director at VOICE 4 Girl said, it is normally believed that girls from good families should not report violence against them. Voice wanted to break that science.

Speaking further she added that India was a home to over 113 million adolescent girls. Only 30% of them graduate from Class 10. Almost 50% are married before the legal age of 18. Voice is a social enterprise that enables marginalized adolescent girls in India to re-imagine their identities, capabilities, and futures. We conduct activity-based camps where girls acquire critical knowledge, spoken English and life skills while they grow in confidence and self-efficacy. VOICE camps act as role models and mentor to the campers. Our goal is to reach enough girls in India to impact national-level indicators — retention in school, child marriage, and health. Through activities and programs we have impacted more than 14,000 campers in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Uttarakhand; and impacted almost 55,000 girls indirectly shared Anusha Bharadwaj.

Two performances held and few TEDx Videos were screened during the meet.
