Teej celebrations in Lyallpur Khalsa College
The college is committed to the preservation of Punjabi cultural heritage
Jalandhar: Teej, the Punjabi festival dedicated to women, was celebrated in Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar today with full fervour and zest, but following the guidelines of social distancing. The girls students participated in the event enthusiastically. The highlights of the event were Punjabi song and dance along with the traditional and ritualistic activity of swinging. Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra said that festivals related one to one's cultural roots and they were a way of celebrating life. He said that Lyallpur Khalsa College was committed to the preservation of Punjabi cultural heritage as well as to promotion of women education in the region and added that a large part of the college student strength comprised of women students. He informed that a number of gender sensitization activities were organised in the college to promote gender equity. The occasion was witnessed by the presence of Dr. Palvinder Singh Dean Cultural Affairs, Dr Harjinder Kaur, Dr Ravneet Kaur, Prof. Gurchetan Singh and Prof. Prabheep Kaur along with students of the college.
