Hyderabad, August 14, 2019: The Third Edition of The Eight Day Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott Grand Master Chess Tournament 2019 to be held here in the city at Hotel Marriott from August 20 to 27.

According to the organsiers, it is the first ever Grand Master Tourney to be held in the state of Telangana. The tournament comes up with the biggest ever prize money, a total prize money of Rs 12 lakh.

The objective of the tournament is to redefine the landscape of competitive chess. Chess is a great sport and in the last decade or so, it’s popularity in India has risen so much so that there are many chess players in competitive chess informs Tetrasoft India in a press note issued in the city today.

Chess in India is growing at a great pace. We currently have nearly 64 Grandmasters and around 107 International Masters. The world chess considers India a force to reckon with.

The tournament is organised by Tetrasoft India, the Provider of Information Technology and Consulting Services in collaboration with South Mumbai Chess Academy and Indian Chess School. Telangana State Chess Association is also actively supporting this prestigious tournament.

The Tournament is being conducted third time in a row.

More than 300 players from across India and other nations, Grand Masters(GMs) and International Masters(IM) will participate in the tournament. This is an high level tournament. If any player performs against IMs/GMs, then that player will get NORM from this tournament.

The NORM is each player should have 3 NORMS to become an International Master (IM). Or Grand Master(GM). This tournament is eligible to certify that honour to the player.

Some of the participating nations include: Russia,Ukraine, Iran, Tajikisthan, Chili, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Expecting more nations’ confirmation in next couple of days.

The tournament has drawn a huge participation from several Chess Federations under FIDE, an international organization that connects various national chess federations across the world.

Several prizes to be won in the tournament. The total prize money is Rs.12 lakh.

The Tournament will conclude on 27rd August at 2 pm with Prize Distribution
