Chandigarh,  July 31, 2024  : The upcoming 12th edition of Literati, the trilingual Chandigarh International Literature festival, promises to be a literary delight for the Tricity. Scheduled for November 23 and 24, at the Lake Club, Chandigarh, Festival Director and  Chairperson of the Chandigarh Literary Society, Dr. Sumita Misra, announced the event today.

Literati 2023 was a resounding triumph, lauded for its exceptional organization and vibrant atmosphere. The festival showcased an impressive roster of several distinguished guests, including International Booker Prize winner Geetanjali Shree, renowned authors Amish Tripathi and Ashwin Sanghi, and the celebrated actor and bestselling author Kabir Bedi. We were also honored to host prominent figures such as Meeran Chadha Borwankar, Bhavna Roy, and Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi. Their presence added significant depth and diversity to the event, and their collective praise highlighted the festival’s success in delivering a truly remarkable platform for intellectual exchange and creative expression.

Dr. Misra said “We have proudly marked a decade of hosting some of the most distinguished literary figures from India and beyond in the City Beautiful. As one of the country's enduring literature festivals, Literati convenes a diverse array of voices on a singular platform, committed to igniting dialogue, fostering discourse, and exploring creativity across a spectrum of genres and expressions.” The two-day festival, organized by the Chandigarh Literary Society proudly unveils the theme for its 12th edition: Celebrating Creativity.

“Our goal and aspiration have consistently aimed to establish Chandigarh as the preferred hub for literature enthusiasts, ensuring that the festival embodies the contemporary and dynamic essence of our city. This year, we will continue to feature celebrated authors and personalities for exclusive performances, dynamic debates and discussions in various languages, and book launches,” added Dr. Misra.

With regard to the theme of ‘Celebrating Creativity’, Dr. Misra spoke about the importance of innovation and imagination coming together, “This year at Literati, we invite you to join us in embracing 'Celebrating Creativity' as more than a theme, but as a guiding ethos. Creativity, the spark that ignites minds and fuels artistic expression, serves as a beacon guiding us through the vast landscapes of literature and beyond. It is through creativity that we reimagine narratives, challenge conventions, and cultivate deeper understandings of ourselves and the world around us. Let us come together to celebrate the boundless possibilities of creativity, forging connections that transcend borders and inspire generations to come.”

Literati is a non-aligned, not for profit festival that is open to all and aims to encourage young minds to read and participate.
