The 14th Dalai Lama turned 89 years old
The 14th Dalai Lama turned 89 years old today. On his birthday message to the world from New York USA (where he is recovering after a knee surgery) has said that he is nearing 90 years of age but not unhealthy.
Dharamshala, July 6, 2024: The 14th Dalai Lama turned 89 years old today. On his birthday message to the world from New York USA (where he is recovering after a knee surgery) has said that he is nearing 90 years of age but not unhealthy.
The text of the message issued here today by His office reads,” I would like to thank all my fellow Tibetans in and outside Tibet for your prayers on my birthday.”
The Dalai Lama, in his message, further said,” I feel a little physical discomfort but that is inevitable, isn't it, due to the ageing process. Basically, I am doing very well. So, please relax and be at ease.”
Concluding his message The Dalai lama said, “I am determined to continue my service to the teaching; I am resolved to do so with all my heart. I wish to urge all Tibetans, wherever you are, to please keep making your prayers for me on my Birthday Celebration. Please do your best. That's all.”
The Dalai Lama underwent successful knee replacement surgery on June 28, at the Hospital for Special Surgery in the USA and was discharged on the morning of Saturday, June 29.
