Chandigarh, September 29, 2024: The Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, participated in the Zero Waste - Swachh Cultural Fest held. 

The event, organized by the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, took place at the Underpass, Sector 17.Panjab University, Chandigarh. DEVS in collaboration with the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC) undet NCAP set up an interactive stall to raise awareness about waste segregation. The highlight of the initiative was an engaging "bins game" designed to educate visitors. Awareness was done for waste segregation and disposal practices."Our goal was to create awareness for waste segregation by learn with fun and make it understandable to the general public," said Professor Suman Mor, Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University Chandigarh.

"The Zero Waste - Swachh Cultural Fest was organized as a tribute to the city's Safai Mitras (sanitation workers) and to honor Mahatma Gandhi's teachings on cleanliness and sanitation. The university's involvement in such initiatives demonstrates its commitment to environmental education and community engagement said Prof Mor.
