`The Wellness City’ on Patiala-Chandigarh Road to be in sync with bioclimatic architecture
It will be 100 pc an environment-friendly project: Egyptian architect Omar K Rabie
Chandigarh, July 26, 2022: The region’s one-of-a-kind iconic realty project - ‘The Wellness City’ on Patiala-Chandigarh Road is in sync with bioclimatic architecture, and thoroughly environment friendly.
“Bioclimatic architecture is when we design with nature and not against it. 'The Wellness City' is in total harmony with nature where residents have ample wind, sunlight, rain, heat, humidity, and other natural phenomena,” said Omar K Rabie, an Egyptian architect who has created the layout and design of 'The Wellness City'.
“Most of the buildings in ‘The Wellness City’ are properly positioned, oriented, and proportioned to create a favourable microclimate. When in a physical environment of these qualities, people naturally change their lifestyle from a lifestyle of sickness to a life of health,” said Rabie, adding that ‘The Wellness City’ will connect to the ‘Art of Living’ Ashram meditation hall and amphitheatre through an enjoyable walk.
Sumit Singla, CEO, Prime Land Promoters and Builders (PLPB), promoter of ‘The Wellness City’ said that every possible effort has been made to enforce the layers of wellness – social, psychological, physical, and spiritual wellness. “It is designed for the human experience. We aim for a shift of priorities from the industrial, vehicular-based built environment to the natural humane built environment,” he said.
Talking about LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Singla said that the project will be a LEED-certified project, ‘The Wellness City’ adheres to every norm to ensure the holistic well-being of its residents and the environment as well. In India, LEED is administered by the Green Business Certification Inc.
Reflecting further, Rabie, an International Union of Architects (IUA) awarded designer, said that if one’s house is well orientated with the sun and the wind, encouraging favoured airflow and reducing unfavoured solar radiation, then he can open a window towards a well-shaded planted transitional space instead of using the AC when it gets hot.
Set to be an architectural marvel and first of its kind residential complex in north India and spread in 100 acres of land, ‘The Wellness City’ will have luxurious apartments, stunning villas, and high end townhouses that come with expanses of lush green landscape and world-class amenities.
Lohit Bansal, MD, PLPB, said that 'The Wellness City' is a low-density project with ample parking space. The buildings are energy friendly with low consumption. Plots are in flexible sizes such as 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, and 1000 square yards. “Sustainable housing is the need of the hour.”
Talking about his association with 'The Art of Living', Bansal who is also an 'Art of Living' teacher said: “'The Wellness City' epitomizes the values and ethos of The 'Art of Living', which is more of a principle, a philosophy of living life to its fullest. It is more a movement than an organization. Its core value is to find peace within oneself and to unite people in our society – of different cultures, traditions, religions, nationalities; and thus reminding us all that we have one goal to uplift human life everywhere.”
