Theatre Workshop Begins at Central University of Punjab

Under the patronage of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, Prof. R.P. Tiwari, the Department of Performing and Fine Arts (DPFA) has organized a 15-day theatre workshop focused on the use and importance of movements in acting. The workshop is being conducted by Mr. Asim Kumar Nath, a renowned thespian and acclaimed theatre director from Assam.

Bathinda, March 05, 2025: Under the patronage of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, Prof. R.P. Tiwari, the Department of Performing and Fine Arts (DPFA) has organized a 15-day theatre workshop focused on the use and importance of movements in acting. The workshop is being conducted by Mr. Asim Kumar Nath, a renowned thespian and acclaimed theatre director from Assam.

The workshop was inaugurated on Monday, at the Acharya Bharata Auditorium, DPFA, in the presence of Prof. R.K. Wusurika, Dean In-Charge of Academics (DIA). The inauguration ceremony began with the traditional watering of the plant and the rendition of the University Kulgeet. Prof. Wusurika welcomed Mr. Asim Kumar Nath to the university by presenting him with a Phulkari and a bouquet. In his address, he emphasized the importance of such workshops in enhancing the skills of theatre students.

Workshop Coordinator, Dr. Kulin Kumar Joshi, introduced Mr. Asim Kumar Nath to the participants and shared insights into the workshop’s theme—Body Movements and Their Use in Acting. The workshop will conclude with a final presentation, directed and prepared by Mr. Nath, featuring the participating students.

A total of 25 students, primarily from the theatre background, are actively participating in this workshop. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Rishpal Singh Virk (In-charge HoD), Dr. Kulin Kumar Joshi (Workshop Coordinator), Dr. Adish Kumar Verma, Dr. Charu Yadav, Tanu Chaudhary, Netesh Meena, and all the workshop participants. Sarvesh Mani successfully conducted the stage proceedings during the event.
