There is a vast scope to develop medical tourism in Himachal Pradesh: Minister Health

Dharamshsala, July 28, 2017: “ As the state of Himachal has best treatment facilities on low cost in medical sector, there is a vast scope to develop medical tourism in Himachal Pradesh,” said Koul Singh Thakur, Health Minister HP at Tanda Medical College, here. He was speaking at the Rogi Kalyan Smiti meeting of the institution.
Minister said that the state government has decided to fill 2000 Para medical posts in the state, to provide better facilities to the patients. He advised the management of Dr Rajinder Parshad Medical college Tanda near here, to get send the cases of temporary employees working here for the past 10 years, to state government get approval for conversion of their jobs to be permanent.
The institution is now providing free treatment to cancer patients.
Transport Minister G S Bali , who was also present in the meeting said,” the state government is working hard to get RP Medical College Tanda as the best medical institution of North India.” He said that the government is regularly providing the modern medical equipments to the institution.
It was informed that rs 41 lakh was spent on 7728 cases of Shishu Suraksha Yojna this year, and 5669 patients were given free treatment in different categories by the RKS. Rs 11.55 crore is available with the institution for free treatment of poor and the needy patients.
Meeting was also attended by Dr ramesh Bharti Principal, RP Medical college Tanda,Dr Yukti dhar Sharma, superintendent RPMC, ADC Kangra K K Saroach, Ms Suman Verma President MC Kangra and others.
Rs 29,50 crore Budget of RKS was passed for the year 2017-18.
