`This step will encourage inflow of international students’
Chandigarh, July 12, 2024: As per previous guidelines 10% seats were reserved for NRI/Wards of NRI candidates and 5% seats were reserved for Foreign National sudents, over and above the total number of sanctioned seats in each UG/PG course offered by Panjab University.
In view of the UGC guidelines dated 26 April 2024, the Panjab University Syndicate has approved 25% Supernumerary seats in place of 5% seats, over and above the total number of sanctioned seats, in all Undergraduate/Postgraduate course (except BDS/MDS course or any other course governed by a regulatory body which does not allow additional seats) for Foreign National Students from the academic session 2024-25.
The supernumerary seats shall be exclusively meant for the International/Foreign national students. International/Foreign National students in this context shall be defined as the one who shall possess a foreign passport.
The 25% of the supernumerary seats for International /Foreign National students will not include the International /Foreign National students under exchange programmes or/and through Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between institutions or between Government of India and other countries.
Expressing his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, who has always supported for the cause of International Students, Professor Kewal Krishan shared that this step will encourage inflow of international students and will be helpful to improve international outreach and ranking of Panjab University.
