Thousands of students form human chain for voting awareness
DC exhorts youths to participate actively on Feb 20
Nawanshahr, February 14, 2022: As a part of the ongoing Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, as many as 2500 students of 105 government senior secondary and high schools of the district formed human chains to make the people aware of their voting rights on Monday.
Disclosing further details in this regard, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that human chains were formed to sensitize about the importance of voting as it was important to keep the voters especially youth abreast about power of vote.
Sarangal said that voters were the backbone of every democratic system and every effort was being made to enhance their participation in the elections.
He said that democracy could be successful only if only all stakeholders, especially the young voters, participated in the poll process with full zeal and enthusiasm.
He said that the administration was emphasizing to generate awareness amongst the masses regarding their voting rights so that people could exercise their right to franchise enthusiastically.
He said that special thrust was being laid on encouraging the young and PWD voters to cast their vote on February 20, the polling day.
He said that already a series of events were being organized in the district to encourage people to vote so that all previous records could be broken in these elections.
