Ludhiana, July 31, 2024: The three-day capacity building workshop for 119 teachers of 50 government schools on the introduction of first of its kind “Bal Sansad” program started by district administration, ended on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney was the chief guest on the last day of the workshop. She delivered the keynote speech on the final day.

It is pertinent to mention that this “Bal Sandad” programme is first of its kind in Punjab.

Sawhney encouraged them to engage all students in the Bal Sansad program, emphasizing its role in fostering responsible and capable citizens. She highlighted that this program will equip students with leadership, participation, democratic engagement, and decision-making abilities. She assured the teachers that the young learners will gain an early understanding of democracy and the country's parliamentary framework through Bal Sansad. This platform will serve as a space for students to voice their opinions on a range of topics, including their educational institutions, families, neighbours, and society, while also discussing their rights openly. Additionally, the program will also enable students to assume leadership positions and engage in discussions on significant issues.

Sharing Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of strengthening the infrastructure and facilities in government schools, DC Sakshi Sawhney described education as the key for success and prosperity, and said that the Bal Sansad programme would empower the students for future.

Sawhney commended the teachers for their enthusiastic involvement in the initiative and congratulated them. She also expressed her gratitude to the experts from Wings of Wisdom Foundation, Anuja Naik and Samuel Dutta, for their contributions to the project.
