Chandigarh, February 17, 2025: A highly enriching three-day workshop on Advanced Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis was successfully conducted at the Centre for Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. This workshop was organised in collaboration with DBT-BUILDER and marked the second instalment in the series following the highly successful workshop held in November.
The workshop was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Deepak Kumar Gupta as Chief Guest of the event. The event featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. Amit Pal from AIIMS Kalyani and Dr. Muhammad Aaqib Shamim from AIIMS Jodhpur, who shared their expertise on systematic reviews and meta-analysis methodologies.
The organising committee comprised Professor Dr. Veena Puri, Chairperson, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Professor, Centre for Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, Panjab University, and Ph.D. scholars Parminder Singh, Parvati Pant, and Abhishek Dey.
The workshop spanned three days, each dedicated to a critical aspect of systematic review and meta-analysis. The first day focused on developing a systematic review framework, which included interactive sessions and hands-on training on framing a search strategy and selecting appropriate databases. The second day was dedicated to extracting and synthesizing data, with practical sessions on assessing the risk of bias to ensure the reliability and credibility of systematic reviews. The final day covered conducting a meta-analysis, interpreting results using the GRADE framework, and exploring bioinformatics applications in novel biomedical research.
The workshop attracted a diverse group of participants, including graduates, postgraduates, research scholars, clinicians, and faculty members from various parts of India and abroad. Attendees hailed from multidisciplinary fields such as economics, regenerative medicine, public health, molecular medicine, and bioinformatics, fostering a rich exchange of knowledge and collaborative learning.
The event concluded on a high note, with participants appreciating the comprehensive structure, expert insights, and interactive sessions. The success of this workshop has reinforced the significance of systematic review and meta-analysis in evidence-based research and has paved the way for future collaborative efforts in this domain.
