Chandigarh, October 14, 2024: Department of Human Development, Government Home Science College, Chandigarh organises a Three-Day Workshop on Mental Health Awareness, themed "Mental Health at Work’’ from October 14-16, aiming to commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month. The workshop is designed to raise awareness about mental wellness and promote open discussions on mental health issues.

On the first day of the workshop, Screening of movie ‘Dear Zindagi was conducted for the students of human development department. The screening of movie provided a meaningful and engaging platform for students to explore the complexities of mental health through the lens of cinema. It was an enriching experience that facilitated valuable discussions and insights into the multifaceted nature of mental health. The film addressed themes of mental health, therapy and self-acceptance thereby providing a powerful platform for students to reflect on the importance of seeking help when needed along with understanding that mental health struggles are part of the human experience. The event’s success reflected the department’s commitment towards addressing such issues and raising awareness among students.

Principal Sudha Katyal applauded the efforts of the department for taking such initiatives. She further stressed the urgent need for creating supportive environments where mental health discussions are normalized. In her concluding remarks, she emphasized that early intervention, empathy, and awareness are key in tackling mental health challenges, particularly among young people who face increasing stress and emotional demands.
